ReplyDelete1. The witches do hold some power over Macbeth. In the scene where the witches show Macbeth the apparitions, they basically boost his confidence and his moral, only to be bitterly defeated in the end. The witches' persuasion is what gives them control over Macbeth and cause him to believe everything.
2. With his new reputation, he's become more brutal and unforgiving. Because of this, people desserted him and those who continued to fight for him only did it because they were told to.
The witches hold a lot of power over macbeths wife, not so much Macbeth. The witches use the couple as though they are puppets.

The witches would show him things he wants to see, but in the end to show his bitter demise. This causes the witches to have a power over Macbeth. His new reputation is not a good one, it has caused many people to leave his side.
